The Doing Business Index is a tool that was produced by the World Bank with the intention of being used as a means of evaluating and comparing the ease with which business can be conducted in 185 countries.
It considers a series of indicators, grouped into 10 stages of the life of a business, that examine the costs of specific regulations that can expand or restrict investment, productivity, the development and performance of companies. The score obtained in each category indicates the place in the ranking that a country occupies among all other countries surveyed.
This index allows countries to determine which are the main barriers that exist for the development of businesses within the framework of their regulations. In many cases, this information has led countries to carry out reform initiatives that are destined to create a more favorable environment for businesses.
